What a happy boy! Jack loves to smile. Doesn't he have the prettiest smile in the world?? -I think so!
I love bedtime routine! I love it so much I am sitting here hoping Jack wakes up from his early evening nap soon so that we can start the process. Bath, cream, pj's, play, book, cereal, milk and rock a bye. It is the same every night. Jack is getting the hang of the routine but he still has not gotten the hang of sleeping at night time yet. I am lucky if I get a 3 hour stretch of sleep. Little turkey wakes up all of the time. But he smells so good I don't mind rocking and cuddling him. I just wish we could find a balance that works for both of us. Tips anyone? -and yes I have tried cereal and no it does not work.
From the play mat to the bumbo chair to the swing to the exersaucer (repeat). We do this all day long. I take back anything bad I said in previous posts about the bumbo chair as it really has been very enjoyable once Jack was able to hold his head up on his own. I am able to move him to any spot in the house while working on my chores and as long as he has a toy in hand he is happy. The exersaucer is the newest favourite for both Jack and I. He LOVES it. I love it too. Gives him the freedom to play on his own while working on his core muscles and gives me freedom to do what I need to do. Often I set him down in it when I am making supper just so I can get it all done in one shot! Today we made homemade salsa from some of the many tomatoes that grew in our garden this year. What a good year for tomatoes. Tomorrow we are freezing carrots from the garden so I have some organic food to feed him this winter. Jack is still learning how to keep his rice cereal in his mouth instead of down his chin and on his bib so it will be a while yet before we start any solids but we will be ready when the time comes!

Exersaucer = The new favourite toy!
Rides in the stroller are always fun!
Jack is fast approaching 4 months old. I know I have said this a time or two already but where does the time go? He has become a very active boy, always wanting to stand. He hates to sit. He is holding his neck/head very well on his own now which has allowed him to advance from the play mat to his exersaucer. He loves it! He loves all toys! He can grab them, wave them around and puts them all in his mouth. He is now trying his best to hold his bottle. Feedings take a bit longer these days as his independence slows us down. He is also almost rolling over. I caught him today trying to roll over to grab a toy. I can't believe how fast he develops. I am sure he is right on track but like every mom out there I really want to believe he is so advanced :) This week he sat in his high chair for the first time and had his first taste of rice cereal. We also went on our first family trip last weekend and he was an excellent traveller. We only had to stop once on a 6 hour car trip. Blew both Pat and I away. What a little man we have already. We are so proud!

Monitors - I actually did not use this until Jack moved out of his bassinet and into his crib but now that I have started using them I love them. Let's you get outside for a few minutes during a nap without worry. Make sure you purchase a dual monitor set so you can leave one in your bedroom and the other in the kitchen or family room (much more convenient when you don't have to move them around the house all of the time). Also make sure you purchase one that plugs into the wall (so you are not using batts all the time-expensive) AND takes batts for when you want to go outside.
Dr. Browns Formula Mixer - Love this! I can make a batch of bottles and then store formula in this already prepared in the fridge until I am ready to make the next batch.
Jack's List:
A few people have pointed out that I have been extrememly slack with Jack's Blog. Up until now I have felt like I have been running circles with no time to spare. We are finally starting to form a routine and I am finally starting to feel comfortable with being a mom (best job in the world by the way!). Life so far has been a lot of sleeping, feedings, diaper changes and cuddles. Jack has started showing his personality. He smiles all of the time and is beginning to laugh. He is such a happy fellow with what seems to be a very calm personality. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing that happy little boy smile back at me. I must be doing something right because he truely is the most content baby..jpg)
