The Nesters

growing, Growing, GROWING

35.5 weeks down, 30 lbs gained, only 4.5 weeks to go.

Cleaning, organizing, setting up, more cleaning....all things that are now a part of my regular day to day routine. I have officially started the nesting phase of my pregnancy. All is in place, clean and tidy...now if I could just have it stay that way for another 4 weeks I would be all set! I finally feel ready.

Pat has been doing a little 'nesting' of his own for a few weeks now. Well...I think it is his male version of nesting but he may not see it this way. He has been hard at work non-stop trying to make our basement fit for our home. Shoveling mud and jack hammering ledge, he impresses me more and more every day with his work ethic..something I hope he passes on to his son (I am sure he will).

Finishing Touches

We just received a beautiful quilt this weekend that put the finishing touches on the nursery. So soft with ducks, frogs and bugs…this is the perfect quilt for a pond themed room. My sister Dani bought me the ‘JACK’ letters that I was frantically searching for and Mom kindly painted them for me. With lots of help the finishing touches are complete and everything is in it’s place. All we need now is baby. 6 weeks to go!

Another Great Report

Another great report from the doctor this morning at 33.5 weeks. Blood pressure, heart beat and belly size are all great. Not much longer and the big day will be here. This little guy has 2 very anxious parents awaiting his arrival....and many excited relatives and friends.

Kicking Daddy

Today was a very important date on the baby calendar! Pat FINALLY felt the baby kick/move this morning. I have been pestering him for the past 12 weeks now. Every time the baby kicks and he is around I put his hand on my belly but…he feels nothing. This morning as I was having my cereal I noticed his kicks were very strong so I went upstairs and jumped back in bed and finished the bowl. I don’t think Pat appreciated my munching much at first as he was still trying to sleep but Jack made it all worthwhile when he kicked Pat as hard as he could for a few seconds straight. Although he has a calm way of showing it I know it was a pretty exciting feeling for him. Thank you Jack!

Girlfriends Shower

My girlfriends threw a fabulous shower for me this past weekend. I was overwhelmed at the support I realize I have in them. Jack, Pat and I received many very useful gifts that we appreciate so much. I have already started thank you cards but don’t be expecting one until he arrives as I want to ensure a picture goes in each and every one of them. Thank you again for the kind gifts, thoughts and for all of the support. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful collection of friends and family!

Here are a few photos to show you how he is growing. Notice my sleepy eyes at 27 weeks!

Lots of kicks and squirms now. It seems that he likes what I eat as he doesn't stop moving shortly after I have had a snack. Other favourite time to be active??? -Bedtime. I can see that this could be rough if his routine remains the same once he gets out. Not to worry I have been getting plenty of sleep when I can. I realise that "sleeping in" will soon no longer be a part of my vocabulary so I have been taking full advantage of Saturday mornings.

Getting Ready!

With only 3 months and 2 weeks to go I have officially started "getting ready". You know... arranging the important things like newborn photos. For those of you who know me well know that I LOVE photos. I have finally decided on a photographer to take pics of our precious babe once he arrives. We have recently started attending prenatal classes. 6 classes left to go! Pat doesn’t even put up a fuss about coming. It really reassures me that we are in this together. The nursery is also coming along nicely (I will post photos soon). I am not sure where the time is going as it seems to be moving so fast. Wish us luck in these last few months of freedom as everyone is telling me life is sure about to change for both of us.

It's a...

BOY!
I officially have 19 weeks left to figure out how to raise a Simonson boy...wish me luck! What an amazing moment we had today in the ultrasound room. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. Pat was quite tickled to find out he was right all along and that our little one is a boy. I was sure we were having a girl but hey…I can’t be right all of the time.
